The Rare Breed FRT-15L3 Trigger replaces the standard AR-15 trigger group with a forced-reset mechanism that eliminates the need for manual trigger release between shots. This isn’t a binary trigger—it’s a mechanical solution for faster follow-up shots without compromising control.
What you get
- Complete drop-in trigger assembly with proprietary forced reset mechanism
- Curved trigger bow with 4.5-5.5 lb pull weight
- Hardened steel components with nickel-boron coated contact surfaces
- Includes all necessary pins and springs
- Made in USA with full CNC machining
Build and finish
The FRT-15L3 uses a monolithic hammer design that eliminates traditional sear engagement. Instead, the disconnector interacts with a cam surface on the hammer during cycling, forcing the trigger forward after each shot. This happens through mechanical interaction rather than springs or electronic components.
All bearing surfaces receive nickel-boron plating for reduced friction and increased wear resistance. The trigger shoe itself is machined from 4140 steel and finished with a matte black oxide coating. Tolerances are held to ±0.001″ on critical interfaces to ensure consistent reset behavior across thousands of rounds.
Compatible platforms
- Standard AR-15/M4 lower receivers (mil-spec)
- Polymer80 AR-15 lowers (PF-15 series)
- Most 80% AR lowers with proper fire control pocket dimensions
- Not compatible with AR-10 or other large-frame platforms
Installation notes
Installs like any mil-spec trigger group using standard pin diameters. No modification to the lower receiver is required, but proper function depends on correct bolt carrier group timing. Works best with carbine-length gas systems and standard buffer weights.
For builders working with Polymer80 frames, this trigger pairs well with complete upper assemblies to create a purpose-built rifle. The forced reset mechanism provides a distinct advantage in rapid-fire scenarios while maintaining the modularity that makes AR platforms so versatile. Just remember—this is a specialized component that changes how the rifle cycles, not just another aftermarket trigger.
